Southern Spain

While living in southern Spain and teaching English in a small town in the Sierra Nevada mountains, I noticed my students were not retaining content using traditional teaching techniques. I began an English Theater troop, using the art form to teach the embodied & emotional usage of the language. I collaboratively wrote a script with students, and directed a performance--entirely in English--which was performed in public space, as well as at the school. 80% of these performers were accepted into a prestigous Ehglish summer camp. Many of them became passionate about the subject through the drama training, and applied for other opportunities.

 

Artists will find a way to make art wherever whenever. And I apply art and creativity to solve problems, and to engage deeper.
