Heading East

After collaborating with artist & activist Tori Abernathy at her retreat at Paul Artspace, I wrote this piece (Temporary Art Review) and now we're collaborating together on two pieces in New York. I leave tomorrow morning to co-facilitate Proposal for a Perpetual Parade at Babycastles, and The Sunview.
If you are New York-based, we'd love to have you come by.
Abernathy recounts a conversation she had with her grandmother years past.
“I really need to find a better way to make a living”, her grandmother said.
“What if finding a better way to live came first?” Tori responded. “Well isn’t that a great idea.”

I liked reading about the journey east and the experiences that came with traveling to a new place. It reminded me of planning a trip during a demanding school term, and I used Take Your Online WGU Exam while trying to manage my schedule and prepare for the adventure. Travel often teaches lessons that go beyond the destination and stay with us long after the trip ends.
